Woody Wonders w/ Ewa Bednarczuk

Woody Wonders: Building Beautiful Habitat from Garden Debris
Every yard produces fallen branches, pruned shrubs, and piles of leaves. You usually haul it all away. But what if it wasn’t waste at all?

In this hands-on outdoor workshop, we’ll explore how to repurpose a variety of woody debris to build beautiful habitat features like dead hedges, hugelkultur mounds, wattle fences, and more. Along the way, we’ll discover the tiny creatures, from beetles and bees to amphibians and fungi, that depend on decaying wood for shelter, food, and reproduction.

You’ll leave with practical ideas, fresh inspiration, and a new way of seeing your yard as a circular system where nothing is wasted, and every brushpile can become both art and habitat. Led by the wonderful Ewa Bednarczuk, Ecologist and Founder of the Neighbourhood Habitat School. All ages/abilities, 1.5hrs, $35+hst
